A Metal Roof Made for Hill Country Stone
This Dripping Springs homeowner wanted a roof that would last as long as the limestone walls beneath it. The home has several roof sections to tie together, including two main gables, a front dormer, an attached garage with a cupola, and a tall stone chimney, all under mature oak trees that drop leaves and limbs year-round.We covered every section in standing seam metal with a bright Galvalume finish. The raised seams hide every fastener, so there are no exposed screws to loosen or leak. At the chimney, we fabricated a custom metal cover with a screened spark arrestor and flashed the stone where it meets the roof, sealing one of the most common leak points on any home. The result is a clean, durable roof that sheds debris, stands up to Hill Country storms, and reflects the Texas heat, while fitting the character of a classic stone home.

The Home
This Hill Country home is built from limestone, with several roof sections to tie together: the main gables, a front dormer, and an attached garage topped with a cupola. Mature trees stand close around the house.
A roof like this takes more than covering a large, simple surface. Every place where one roof section meets another, or meets a wall, needs to be detailed carefully, because those transitions are where roofs most often start to leak.
Why Standing Seam Fits a Home Like This
Standing seam metal is a natural fit for Hill Country homes, and this one shows why.
- It suits the architecture. Metal and limestone are a classic Texas Hill Country pairing, and standing seam’s clean vertical lines complement the stone instead of competing with it.
- Concealed fasteners. The fasteners sit under the panels, so there are no exposed screws or rubber washers to wear out in the Texas sun.
- It sheds leaves and debris. With trees close to the house, a smooth metal surface lets leaves and debris slide off more easily than a textured shingle roof.
- It’s noncombustible. Metal won’t burn, which matters in the Hill Country.
- It’s built to last. A well-installed standing seam roof can last for decades, and we back every metal roof we install with a 25-year workmanship warranty.
The Work
Protecting the Property First
Before any old roofing came off, our crew set up the Catch-All jobsite protection system: heavy-duty netting hung from the roofline down to the ground. As the tear-off progressed, old roofing, nails, and debris slid into the netting instead of scattering across the landscaping, lawn, and driveway.
The system is designed to contain debris during the tear-off itself, rather than relying on finding it after it has already reached the yard.
One System Across Every Roof Section
We covered the main house, the front dormer, and the attached garage in standing seam metal, so every section of the home shares the same clean, continuous look. From above, the panels run in straight, even lines across the whole roof.
Tying the Sections Together
The dormer, the garage, and the main roof each meet at different angles. At every transition, trim and flashing tie the sections together, so the roof reads as one finished system and water is directed off the roof instead of into it.
What This Project Shows
- Standing seam can unify a complex roofline. Multiple gables, a dormer, and a garage can all share one clean, consistent system.
- Metal and stone work beautifully together. A bright metallic finish stands out against limestone and fits the Hill Country setting.
- The details matter most where sections meet. Transitions between roof sections are where careful trim and flashing work pays off.
- Every residential tear-off is protected. Our Catch-All system contained debris around the home and landscaping during the tear-off.
The Result
The home now has a standing seam metal roof across every section, from the main gables and dormer to the garage, finished in a bright metal that stands out against the limestone, and backed by our 25-year workmanship warranty.
