AUSTIN & CENTRAL TEXAS
Clean Lines, Hidden Fasteners, Built for Decades
Standing seam is the premium metal roofing system, and it’s the one we’re asked about most on high-end homes around Austin. Its continuous panels and raised seams create a clean, architectural look that suits modern, farmhouse, and Hill Country designs alike.
It’s also a system that rewards careful installation. Panel layout, trim, and flashing details make the difference between a roof that looks right and one that performs for decades. Metal roofing is our specialty, and every metal roof we install is backed by a 25-year workmanship warranty.

What Makes Standing Seam Different
Concealed fasteners
The fasteners sit beneath the panels instead of going through them. There are no exposed screws or rubber washers to wear out, loosen, or leak over time.
Continuous panels
Panels typically run in one piece from eave to ridge, so there are far fewer seams where water can find its way in.
Room to move
Metal expands and contracts with Texas temperature swings. Standing seam systems are designed to allow that movement, which helps protect the panels and fasteners.
An architectural look
Crisp vertical lines give a home a clean, finished appearance that few other roofing materials can match.
Why Standing Seam Works in Central Texas
Our climate is hard on roofs. Standing seam holds up to it better than most.
Heat and Sun
Reflective finishes can reduce heat gain, which helps in long Texas summers.
Wind
Interlocking seams and concealed clips help keep panels secured in high winds.
Hail
Metal won’t crack or lose granules like shingles. Large hail can dent it, though.
Fire and Embers
Metal is noncombustible, a real advantage in the Hill Country.
Long Life
A well-installed standing seam roof can last for decades.
Low Maintenance
No exposed fasteners to reseal, and no granules to lose.
Standing Seam Profiles
The seam is how the panels lock together. We’ll recommend the profile that fits your roof’s pitch and exposure.
Snap-Lock
Panels snap together along the seam and attach with concealed clips. A clean, efficient option that works well on many residential roofs.
Mechanically Seamed
The seams are folded together with a seaming tool for a tighter lock. Often chosen for lower slopes and more demanding conditions.
Nail Strip
Panels fasten through a hidden flange instead of clips. A lower-cost option, with less room for expansion, so it suits shorter panel runs.
Choosing Your Panels
Metallic Finishes
Bright, natural metallic finishes, like our Dripping Springs project.
Painted Finishes
Charcoal, bronze, black, and more, like our Austin project.
Panel Width
Narrower or wider panels change the look and rhythm of the roof.
Striations
Subtle ribs in the panel help reduce visible waviness, called oil canning.
Panel Gauge
Thicker metal adds strength and dent resistance.
Trim and Details
Matching trim, ridge, and flashing give the roof a finished look.
Standing Seam vs. Exposed-Fastener Metal
Not all metal roofs are the same. Here’s the key difference.
Standing Seam
Fasteners are hidden beneath raised seams, panels are designed to expand and contract, and the finished roof has a clean, premium look. It costs more, but it asks for very little maintenance over its life.
Exposed-Fastener Panels
Screws go through the face of the panels and seal with rubber washers. It costs less upfront, but those washers age in the Texas sun, and the screws need to be checked and replaced over time.
Standing Seam vs. Shingles
The two most common choices for Central Texas homes, compared honestly.
Standing Seam Metal
A higher upfront cost, with a much longer expected life, very little maintenance, and a clean, modern look. It’s a strong choice if you plan to stay in your home for the long haul.
Asphalt Shingles
A lower upfront cost and a traditional look that fits almost any home. Shingles age faster in the Texas heat and can lose granules in hail. See shingle roofing.
Is Standing Seam Right for You?
We’ll give you an honest recommendation, even if it’s not standing seam.
It’s often a great fit if:
- You plan to stay in your home for many years
- You want a clean, modern, or Hill Country look
- You want a roof that needs very little upkeep
- Your roof has long, simple planes
Another option may be better if:
- You need the lowest upfront cost
- You plan to sell soon
- Your HOA restricts metal roofing (check first)
- Your roof only needs a repair
What Affects the Cost of a Standing Seam Roof
Roof Size and Pitch
More area and steeper slopes take more material and labor.
Roof Complexity
Valleys, dormers, and chimneys need custom trim and flashing.
Seam Profile
Mechanically seamed systems take more time to install.
Finish
Premium painted finishes cost more than bare metallic finishes.
Gauge
Heavier-gauge panels cost more and add strength.
Tear-Off and Deck
Removing the old roof and repairing decking add to the scope.
A free estimate gives you a clear number and the options behind it.
Metal Roofs, Hail, and Insurance
Some Texas policies include a cosmetic damage exclusion for dents that don’t affect performance, and some insurers offer discounts for impact-resistant roofing. Ask your agent about both before you choose a roof.

From start to finish, the field manager, Daisy, from TX Specialty Roofing kept us informed of our needs and our options. She provided clear photos using drones (both before and after). We had a major leak from the highest point of our roof and we have a VERY steep, high, and unusual tin roof and they were able to address the issues! Pricing was fair and the job was completed within the timelines given. Very professional approach!! Highly recommend!!Posted on Google![]()

Our field manager, Daisy Laguna, was exceptional! Excellent communication and updates provided throughout the entire project. Her team was able to identify other issues within my attic (HVAC leak). They took pictures and video for me to quickly have another professional repair the issue in a timely manner. Zero upselling...a rarity in today's market. Would HIGHLY recommend!Posted on Google![]()

This is a long overdue review for Texas Specialty Roofing. My name is Bernardo. I own a single-story home in a small development near the Leander CapMetro Rail station and the HEB Plus! SHOPPING plaza. My roof was damaged from the crazy May 2025 thunderstorms and hailstorms we had. I worked with Daisy Laguna. From the very beginning, she was very professional and helpful. She walked me through the whole process. When my insurance initially refused to pay for the needed repairs, she helped me go through the public adjuster process. It took a few months, but when all was said and done, my insurance funded half of the costs. Daisy and Texas Specialty Roofing also helped me secure financing at a favorable rate of 0%. The team came to my house early morning and worked efficiently, replacing my entire roof by the end of the afternoon. They also worked on repairing the inside ceiling that had been damaged by the water leaks on the same day, with a follow-up a few days later to get the job done. I cannot say enough how much of a pleasure Daisy and Texas Specialty Roofing were to work with. I highly recommend her and the company. Although I wasn't too thrilled with the cost out of my own pocket, as it is often said, you get what you pay for. The 0% financing certainly was a lifesaver, for sure! This repair happened in November 2025. I am looking forward to not having any issues or problems with the coming rainy season this Spring 2026, knowing that Texas Specialty Roofing installed a solid roof on my house.Posted on Google![]()

The job your company did on our roof was flawless and totally satisfactory. Your installers left our property cleaner than it was on their arrival. The face of your company, Keith and Ridge, came across to us as competent and knowledgeable. Their presentations of your services were genuine and sincere as we later realized . Keith and Ridge are indeed significant assets to your company. It was a pleasure to have met them and thankful we selected your company to do our job. One additional item of interest that occurred on January 17, 2026 was my home owner policy premium was reduced 40% for this year. Kieth and Ridge had informed me.that upgrading to a class 3 composition high impact roofing would reduce my premium. Indeed it didPosted on Google![]()

I am very grateful for Eddy and everyone at this company. I live here in San Antonio, and I met Eddy while outside my home one day, and he was kind and helped me take my trash out. We began a conversation and I explained my roof was leaking. Eddy had a few young gentlemen come do an inspection, and found the leaking was due to the hail and wind damage. They were so helpful and professional. My roof was approved thank you so much. They upgraded me at no extra charge to a Class 3 impact roof and now I am paying less on my insurance premium payments. I am very thankful and I will only call this company to do my roof work and I highly recommend to anyone looking for a professional job.Posted on Google![]()

This was an amazing experience. After the big hail storm, they happened to be at my neighbors and came by (at his request), thank goodness! They laid out what they did, the materials, and how they had an insurance person who coordinated with our insurance company to make sure everything went seamlessly, which is usually a big headache. Daisy was our contact person, and she went above and beyond to make sure we knew about the whole process, fees, materials, and recommdations on how to apply insurance coverage on areas we didn't realize were damaged initially. If we had any questions or changes, they were all patient and kind to help make things happen. The work was done beautifully, and if we had any concerns they sent someone within 24 hours to go over or fix. They were very considerate of keeping materials and the area safe for my children and pets. I would definitely recommend them...highly.Posted on Google![]()

Metal Roof, Gutter and Garage Doors Replacement Review by Texas Specialty Roofing Overview Recently, we had our metal roof, gutters and garage doors replaced due to hail damage, and we are pleased to share our experience. From the initial consultation to the completion of the project, the process was handled professionally and efficiently. Initial Consultation and Estimate The roofing company came to our house and provided an inspection quickly, synchronizing with our insurance company. The project coordinators, Keith Harvey and Ridge Salazar, were extremely knowledgeable, patiently answered all our questions, and gave a detailed breakdown of the process and costs involved which met our expectations. Project Execution The roof, gutter, and garage door crews all arrived as scheduled and took care to protect our landscaping and property. The removal of the old roof was done swiftly and without unnecessary clutter. Installation of the new metal roof was completed within the promised timeframe, and the team maintained a clean worksite throughout. The same can be said of the workmanship of the replacement of roof gutters and garage doors. Quality of Work We are impressed with the color and the look of the new roof with striations that the contractor recommended as well as the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the crew. After the job, the team performed a thorough cleanup, leaving no debris behind. Customer Service Communication by Keith and Ridge as well as project manager Eddy Iglesias was excellent throughout the project. We received regular updates and prompt answers to our concerns. The company provided clear documentation and warranty information at the end of the job. Final Thoughts Overall, we are extremely satisfied with the results of our metal roof replacement. The new roof, gutters and garage doors not only enhance the appearance of our home but also provide peace of mind regarding protection from the elements. The professionalism, quality of work, and customer service exceeded our expectations. Based on our experience, we would confidently recommend Texas Specialty Roofing to others considering a roof replacement. Wilt & Sylvia ShawShowing our latest reviews

Standing Seam Questions
How much more does standing seam cost than shingles?
Standing seam typically costs significantly more upfront than asphalt shingles. The value comes from its long lifespan and low maintenance. We’ll price both so you can compare honestly.
How long does a standing seam roof last?
A well-installed standing seam roof can last many decades. We back every metal roof we install with a 25-year workmanship warranty, in addition to the manufacturer’s warranty.
Will hail dent a standing seam roof?
Large hail can dent metal roofing. Thicker panels and striations help, and many dents are cosmetic and don’t affect how the roof performs. Unlike shingles, metal won’t crack or lose granules.
What is oil canning?
Oil canning is visible waviness in flat areas of metal panels. It’s cosmetic and doesn’t affect performance. Striated panels, the right gauge, and careful installation help reduce it.
Can standing seam go on a low-slope roof?
Many standing seam systems can be installed on lower slopes than shingles, with the right profile and underlayment. We’ll confirm what your roof’s pitch allows.
Will a standing seam roof be loud in the rain?
Over a solid deck with underlayment, a standing seam roof is typically no louder inside than other roofing materials.
Does a metal roof attract lightning?
No. Metal roofing doesn’t make a home more likely to be struck by lightning, and because it’s noncombustible, it won’t catch fire if lightning does strike.
Can my HOA stop me from installing a metal roof?
Some HOAs have rules about roofing materials and colors, so check yours before you choose. Texas law also limits how HOAs can restrict certain roofing, including some impact-resistant and energy-efficient materials. Your HOA documents are the place to start.
