Roof Replacement in Cedar Park, TX | Hail & Decking Repair
This roof replacement in Cedar Park started with a spring hail inspection on a single-story home in a mature, oak-shaded neighborhood. On the front slope alone, we circled more than 20 hail hits in one test square. When the old roof came off, we found damaged decking that had to be replaced before anything new could go down.
We cut out and replaced the damaged decking, sealed the vulnerable roof-to-wall junctions with leak barrier, and installed a new architectural shingle roof, all in one day.

What Our Inspection Found in Cedar Park
Hail damage rarely shows from the street, so we measure it. On each slope we mark a 10-by-10-foot test square and circle every hit inside it in chalk. This roof’s front slope came back FH=20+, well past the level that compromises a roof.
The inspection also showed a second problem common in Cedar Park’s older, tree-lined neighborhoods: leaves and debris packing the valleys under an overhanging oak. Valleys carry more water than any other part of a roof, and debris holds that water against the shingles.

Hidden Damage: Replacing the Roof Decking
Tear-off started at first light. Once the old shingles were off, our crew walked the entire deck and found sections that were too damaged to roof over. New shingles nailed into weak decking won’t hold, and the roof can sag or leak, so we cut the damaged areas back to the rafters and installed new sheathing.
We also pieced in new decking along the sidewall, where the roof meets the wall of the house. That junction is one of the most common leak points on any roof, so it got extra attention before the underlayment went down.

Building the New Roof in One Day
With a solid deck in place, the new roof went on in layers:
- Leak barrier at the walls and valleys. Self-adhering leak barrier went down along the roof-to-wall junctions and in the valleys, where water concentrates.
- Synthetic underlayment. ABC Pro Guard 20 synthetic underlayment covered the rest of the deck. It’s stronger and more tear-resistant than traditional felt.
- New architectural shingles. Shingles went on across every slope and tucked cleanly along the sidewalls.
- Ventilation and penetrations. New ridge vent, hip and ridge caps, and new pipe boots finished the roof.
The crew started before 7 am, and by mid-afternoon the new roof was finished and the site was cleaned up.

The Finished Roof
This roof replacement in Cedar Park gave the home a crisp, updated look. The gray architectural shingles pair well with the stone and painted siding, and the ridge lines run clean and straight. More importantly, it’s sound from the rafters up: new decking where it was needed, sealed wall junctions, and a new roof built to handle Central Texas storms.

Roof Replacement in Cedar Park: Common Questions
There’s no single number for every policy, but inspectors and adjusters commonly use a 10-by-10-foot test square on each slope. Around 8 or more confirmed hits in a test square is a common threshold for replacement. This Cedar Park roof had more than 20 on the front slope.
Not always. Some decking damage can only be found once the old shingles come off. When we find it, we stop, photograph it, and show you before replacing anything, so there are no surprises on your invoice.
Anywhere a roof meets a wall, water runs down the wall and onto the roof. If that junction isn’t protected with leak barrier and proper flashing, water gets behind the siding and into the decking. It’s one of the most common sources of leaks.
They can. Overhanging branches drop leaves and debris that clog valleys and gutters, hold moisture against the shingles, and can scrape the roof in high wind. Keeping branches trimmed back helps your roof last longer.
Many single-family homes, like this one, are finished in a single day, even with decking repairs. Larger or more complex roofs and weather can add time. We’ll give you an expected timeline before work begins.
